Whether or not Heinrich Harrer was a good singer or not, we don't know. But the fact is that on July 6, 1912, the mountain climber, author and later professor was born in Huettenberg where with his first ascent of the Eiger north face and his book 7 Years in Tibet he became the most famous citizen of the town which today has 10,673 inhabitants.
For everyone who wants to learn more about this remarkable man and his moving life story, we recommend a visit to the Heinrich Harrer Museum in Huettenberg, which has a collection of over 4,000 exhibits and is open daily from May 1 to October 31 from 10:00 to 17:00.
Tours are conducted year-round by appointment.
