Playing the piano is a musical activity with a comprehensive experiential dimension. This dimension of experience forms a unity of motor elements and mental and emotional phenomena. It does not make sense to separate the technical and motor aspects in their diversity from the experience of music, because “technology” and music are not opposites but rather form an inseparable unity. Some aspects of this workshop will be:
Speed in runs, arpeggios and irregular passages
Thirds, sixths, octaves
Strength and endurance
Security in performance
Memory
Sound
Movement-weight-precision
Dynamics and their designWith this in mind, we will discuss the problems of virtuosity from the holistic aspect of musical creation. Please prepare 2-3 works for the course that we can work on as examples. The course is aimed at pianists who are looking for support in the artistic design of their pieces. Ana-Marija Markovina explained the pedagogical basis for this course in her book “GLÜCKS-Spiel” (Staccato-Verlag).
Ana-Mirija Markovina is supported in her educational work by the pianist Paula Muthig - the course participants therefore have two professional contacts at their disposal.
C-Level: at least 3 years of playing experience. In terms of playing technique, you should at least be able to handle: Chopin: easier waltzes, moderately difficult sonatas by Haydn, Mozart, Beethoven, inventions by Bach.
D-Level: significantly advanced players with many years of playing experience and experience with technically demanding literature.

Hardly anything is as magical as the moment of artistic inspiration. Therefore, it's best not to let it pass and to immediately put one's ideas onto paper.
A joint project of the Carinthian Music Academy (CMA) and the Gustav Mahler Private University in Klagenfurt.
The Carinthian Music Academy (CMA) initiates an inspiring platform with the new composition competition, offering space for young and contemporary composers to create innovative works and further develop their musical signature. With this competition, we aim to enrich the diversity of the musical landscape and to specifically promote the creation of qualified specialist literature. The CMA Composition Competition is intended to be held annually, with each year focusing on a different genre or ensemble. This diversity not only supports the development of new artistic forms of expression but also strengthens the visibility and recognition of young composers on their path to the professional music world. By publicly performing the winning works, we bring these new compositions closer to a broad audience and promote a lively dialogue between artists and listeners.
The CMA has been passionately dedicated to the topic of brass for years and is today a central player in the promotion of young emerging musicians. In 2025, the competition will be themed around Brass Band composition. Two outstanding Carinthian ensembles are celebrating their 20th anniversary together this year and invite you to a very special Christmas concert. The Carinthian State Youth Choir, which offers young, talented singers from all over Carinthia the opportunity to experience the diverse facets of vocal music, meets the Brass Boys ensemble, which has been impressing with their musical versatility and inspiring stage presence since 2005.
Under the direction of Bernhard Wolfsgruber and the founding members Doris Aichholzer and Florian Pirolt, the Carinthian State Youth Choir, which currently has around 55 members, forms a colorful community of singers from various regions of Carinthia. With sophisticated arrangements and a wide repertoire, the choir has fascinated audiences for two decades.
The Brass Boys, founded from a music school project in Mölltal, have long been known far beyond Carinthia. They have made a name for themselves nationally and internationally with their mix of original works for brass, original compositions and modern arrangements.
Together, the Carinthian State Youth Choir and the Brass Boys will not only present their musical skills this evening, but also celebrate two decades of music. Look forward to this atmospheric Christmas concert!
