Hanno Busch

Gitarrist, Komponist, Produzent

As a guitarist and composer, Hanno Busch has been at home in nearly every stylistic realm between jazz and pop/rock music for more than two decades. As a sideman, he has enriched numerous albums and tours with his unmistakable playing. Starting his journey in the German and European music scene with the State and Federal Youth Jazz Orchestras and a degree from the University of the Arts in Amsterdam, he embarked on tours and studio productions with a variety of artists, including Peter Herbolzheimer’s Rhythm Combination & Brass, Peter Weniger, Niels Klein – Tubes & Wires, [re:jazz], PeterLicht, Michael Wollny – Wunderkammer, Sasha, Cosmo Klein & The Phunkguerilla. From 2007 to 2016, he was the guitarist for the heavytones, the house band of the PRO7 show TV Total moderated by Stefan Raab.

Since 2013, Busch has been running his own label, FRUTEX TRACKS. Since 2021, he has been the guitarist for Jan Delay & Disko No. 1. With the band SOMMERPLATTE, for which Busch collaborates with keyboardist Tobias Philippen, and the HANNO BUSCH TRIO, he pursues two projects where he brings a portion of his musical visions to life, both in live performances and on recordings. Following the ECHO Jazz-nominated debut album of the trio, “Absent” (FRUTEX TRACKS 2014), Busch received the ECHO Jazz 2018 in the Guitar/National category for the trio’s second album, “Share This Room,” released in February 2017 (FRUTEX TRACKS 2017).

In February 2024, the album of the trio HOFER BUSCH HELD will be released, a collective project with Austrian bassist Julia Hofer and Hamburg-based drummer Tobias Held (FRUTEX TRACKS 2024). Additionally, as a producer and composer, Hanno Busch is responsible for numerous film, radio play, and music productions. He gladly shares his experiences and knowledge with the upcoming generations of musicians through workshops and teaching. Guest workshops and lectures at universities in Osnabrück, Mannheim, Dinkelsbühl, Rostock, a guest professorship at the Jazz Institute Berlin (UdK), and his work at the Rheinische Musikschule in Cologne showcase Busch’s wide-ranging expertise.
