Composer, Arranger, and Former Member of Federspiel

Matthias Werner (born 1989 in Krems an der Donau, Austria) is a freelance composer with a particular passion for orchestral soundscapes. His works have been commissioned by ensembles such as the Tonkünstler Orchestra of Lower Austria, the Vienna Jeunesse Orchestra, the WDR Funkhaus Orchestra, the Vienna Musikverein, and the Schauspielhaus Salzburg.
As a trombonist, singer, and composer, he was a member of the ensemble Federspiel from 2004 to 2021, touring internationally with the group.

He studied classical trombone and popular music vocals with a focus on composition and production at the University of Music and Performing Arts Vienna – graduating with distinction in both fields. Werner’s artistic work spans symphonic wind compositions, film music (including No Lies), and commissioned works for renowned orchestras.

“My heart beats for collecting imaginative ideas and developing them into compositions as rich and expansive as possible.”
