BRASS FESTIVAL: REINHOLD FRIEDRICH BRASS QUINTET

Founded in 2022 by Reinhold Friedrich, one of the most important trumpeters of our time, the quintet brings together internationally renowned musicians. Their playing merges supreme technical mastery, chamber music sensitivity, and boundless joy of making music into a homogeneous, radiant sound. Their debut album, Unity, received widespread acclaim from both critics and audiences and is considered a benchmark recording for modern brass chamber music.

From Baroque to contemporary music, the quintet impresses with elegance, energy, and expressive power at a world-class level.

• Reinhold Friedrich (Germany) – Trumpet
  Professor of Trumpet at the Hochschule für Musik Karlsruhe, internationally sought-after soloist and teacher, and guest professor at prestigious conservatories in London, Helsinki, Hiroshima, and Madrid.
• Jeroen Berwaerts (Belgium) – Trumpet
  Former principal trumpet of the NDR Symphony Orchestra, highly requested soloist, and professor at the Hochschule für Musik, Theater und Medien Hannover.
• Lasse Mauritzen (Denmark) – Horn
  Knighted by Queen Margrethe II, principal horn of the Danish Radio Symphony Orchestra (DRSO).
• Ian Bousfield (UK) – Trombone
  Former principal trombonist of the Vienna Philharmonic, soloist and conductor, currently residing in Switzerland.
• Thomas Røisland (Norway) – Tuba
  Principal tubist of the Danish Radio Symphony Orchestra (DRSO) and other leading European orchestras, living in Sweden.

The five musicians share a commitment to setting new standards in brass chamber music, presenting world-class premiere recordings, commissioning new arrangements, and offering definitive interpretations of repertoire that previously lacked reference recordings at the highest level.
