Classics in Havana – Matej Dzido (Piano)

Matej Dzido radiates pure joie de vivre as his nimble fingers dance across the keys, blending familiar classical melodies with fiery Latin American rhythms and jazzy variations. In his virtuosic original arrangements, Beethoven’s “Für Elise”, Mozart’s “Alla Turca”, and other masterpieces of the piano repertoire are brought to life anew in a vibrant Latin jazz style. The unique concert program of this young pianist, based in Salzburg, is further enriched by original works from Latin American composers—rarely performed musical gems that lend the evening a distinctive and colorful character.

Born in Ljubljana in 1993, Matej Dzido is among the most versatile pianists of his generation. His studies at the Mozarteum Salzburg, numerous international awards, and performances at venues such as the Elbphilharmonie in Hamburg and the Salzburg Festival have all shaped his artistic voice—alongside his openness to crossing stylistic boundaries between classical music, jazz, and world music.

The concert takes place as part of “PIANOFLY – Piano Camp” a platform founded by Matej Dzido to inspire and support young pianists. An evening full of musical surprises, virtuosity, and electrifying energy!
